The cool weather is most definitely right for cakes. Both making them and eating them. I receive the free
River Cottage newsletters and in one of the most recent was a recipe for a lemon madeira cake. It tempted me enough to make it.

The
recipe called for two lemons but as I only had one lemon and still an abundance of limes, I used one lemon and one lime. It was delicious. I decorated it with hearstease blossoms which made it look quite delicate and pretty.

A perfect afternoon tea by the fire.
